Beth Winter (Diane Keaton) rescues a lost dog from the side of a road. Her husband Joseph (Kevin Kline) is a self-important surgeon. Beth brings the dog Freeway home and her daughter Grace (Elisabeth Moss) falls for the vet.

"Darling Companion" is shockingly bad. Filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan ("Body Heat," "The Big Chill") seems to have made this in order to secure a TV project.

Darling Companion is also a visual treat, shot on location around Colorado and especially in the picturesque town of Telluride. Yet despite the engaging cast (including the dog who plays Freeway), Darling Companion comes up short in the story department.

The Lovin' Spoonful is a pop/rock band that was formed in New York City, New York, United States in 1965. The band consisted of John Sebastian (vocals, autoharp), Zal Yanofsky (guitar), Steve Boone (bass) and Joseph Campbell Butler (drums).
